Chic in Sag Harbor: Paul Rafftery

I'm not the only who is smitten with Sag Harbor. Artist Paul Rafferty, who currently has a solo show at the Grenning Gallery, spends time painting plein air on the East End and has captured the beauty of the beach as well as everyday life around town. The small studies are taken back to his studio in the South of France where they are turned into larger works. Check out his website for a look at his European paintings. I wish I could afford them all!

Sag Harbor

If you asked me before for my favorite town in the Hamptons, I would have said Southampton without missing a beat. It's pretty and perfectly manicured and has lots of cute stores but this weekend, I finally succumbed to the charms of Sag Harbor. It has such a quaint Main Street, USA feeling that I never took the time to notice on all my other visits. I especially love all the shop signs and their old fashioned fonts. There are also flags flying all over town that I can already picture a patriotic Memorial Day parade marching down the real Main Street. Happy almost holiday weekend!

Chic in Sag Harbor: JED

After you visit Ruby Beets, make sure you head next door to JED. I could have also bought everything in this chic shop. It's a mix of French antiques and new pieces that all have a certain je ne sais quoi. While some pieces were expensive, those two chairs out front were only $450 for the pair. I had to do a double take to make sure I didn't miss a one in front of the price which is how much they would have cost in the city. Owner Jack Deamer clearly has a great eye and I look forward to make JED a regular haunt! Happy Shopping!

Chic in Sag Harbor: Ruby Beets

This weekend, I spent visiting all my favorite stores in Sag Harbor which included Ruby Beets, a favorite of almost every designer. It's a small space but it's packed to the rafters with new and antique treasures. I especially loved all the lamps and photographs of sea and sky by Mary Ellen Bartley but in reality, I could have bought everything in the shop! I highly suggest you make Ruby Beets a priority on your next trip to the Hamptons. You definitely won't be disappointed!
