Happy Spring!

Spring arrived at 7:21pm today and that means that the Park Avenue tulips can't be far behind! Hooray!

If we had no winter, the spring would not be so pleasant;
if we did not sometimes taste of adversity,
prosperity would not be so welcome.

Chic in Barbour

Barbour didn't invent oilcloth or waxed cotton coats but they sure did make them chic. What other company could lay claim to outfitting Steve McQueen and Queen Elizabeth?  I personally love the quilted versions and own the Ladies Flyweight Utility Jacket in dark stone.  The oil cloth coats tend to look a little boxy and unflattering on women unless you buy a belted option or add your own like Olivia Palermo. It really is the boys who look best in Barbour.  They are all over the Upper East Side this time of year and are my kryptonite but even the downtown boys look pretty cool in them too.  If you own one and live in New York, you might want to pull out because I hear it's going to rain the next few days.  Happy almost Spring!

I don't think all these styles are Barbour but they're close enough.
Photos from Barbour.  Other photos that were taken by a certain fashion blogger were taken down after his office told me that I violated his copyright on them.

Spring Fling

I'm sure you've already heard me declare that I really want to burn all my winter clothes but I really mean it this time.  I'm over boots, tights, sweaters, scarves, hats, gloves, and coats.  I long for weather that will allow me to just wear jeans and flats with a top of course and a light jacket.  I have been buying colorful spring clothes which now hang in my closet taunting me.  That's why I love all of these ladies ensembles.  I wish I could incorporate more color into my winter wardrobe for this almost spring but not quite time of year.   Even just a lighter colored jacket would help. I've already decided that I'm not buying anything grey next fall and might even do something really crazy like buy a red coat.  But for now, the best I can do are red nails.  Better than nothing I guess.

March Madness

The March wind roars
Like a lion in the sky,
And makes us shiver
As he passes by.

When winds are soft,
And the days are warm and clear,
Just like a gentle lamb,
Then spring is here.

NYIGF 2011: For the Birds

I kept noticing birds everywhere I went at the New York International Gift Show.  The pillows from Dransfield & Ross are an especially beautiful example.  Birds are a harbinger of spring and here's hoping that after this brutal winter they arrive in real life soon too!
